CAPS members are worldwide change agents:

• with courage, passion, motivations and values similar to CAPS;
• have experience with healthcare succeeding and/or failing;
• have experienced medical errors, adverse outcomes or near misses for themselves or loved ones; and
• are prepared to partner to assure patient safety and a system of just resolution of patient safety problems.

• Stay informed about the latest in consumer-centered patient safety policy, research and educational activities and initiatives
• Link directly with other individuals interested in proactive partnership through the CAPS Communities with a diverse global network of consumers, healthcare providers, policy makers, researchers and others committed to a partnership approach to improving the safety of healthcare
• Educate healthcare about consumer perspectives and roles
• Raise and strengthen public awareness about patient safety
• Access resources, including tools, articles, books, reports and links to other organizations that will help you navigate through healthcare systems
• Trade expertise, ideas and lessons learned on patient safety
• Be heard – shape regulatory and governmental policy and influence legislation by helping to bring the consumer voice and perspective to healthcare safety issues
• Identify common concerns and develop strategic responses to them
• Ensure CAPS stays patient-centered by serving in advisory and leadership roles
• Show your support in advancing patient-centered healthcare systems through a pledge of partnership
